30 YEARS LABORATORY OF MATHEMATICAL CHEMISTRY

In 2014 the Laboratory of Mathematical Chemistry celebrates its 30th anniversary. 

 

In a video conference on March 28th LMC received greetings from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA).  Bob Diderich, Head of OECD's Environment, Health and Safety Division, marked OECD's successful collaboration with LMC within the (Q)SAR Toolbox project and reminisced about his first visit in Burgas  in 2006.  Mike Rasenberg, Head of ECHA's Computational Assessment & Dissemination Unit, and Tomasz Sobanski, Scientific Officer and ECHA's Project Manager for (Q)SAR Toolbox, acknowledged LMC's expertise and willingness to invest time and effort in its work. 

 

Guests of LMC on behalf of the Bulgarian Academy of Science (BAS) were Prof. Nikola Sabotinov, former Chair of BAS, and Prof. Dimitar Dimitrov.

 

The Mayor of Municipality Burgas, Dimitar Nikolov, and Deputy Mayors Yordanka Ananieva, Krasimir Stoychev and Loris Manuelyan also attended the event.   The Mayor of Burgas awarded LMC with a Certificate of Achievement and thanked LMC for making Burgas a well-known name in scientific communities.

 

Later that day LMC's anniversary was also acknowledged by the Governor of Region Burgas, Pavel Marinov.  LMC was awarded the Honorary Sign of the Governor of Burgas.
